Investing In Our Future Leaders

"Build a World Where All Youth Are Empowered and globally prepared"

Who We Are

Lewis Williams Education Foundation, Inc. (LWEF) was formed in 2019 and has since blossomed into a 501©(3) nonprofit corporation that offers an array of programs, services and resources, aligned with the morals and ideals of the late Pinellas County educator, Lewis “Lew” Williams. Lew worked tirelessly (over 40 years) in the Pinellas County School System, fueled by his belief that every student deserves a quality education and equal access to a promising future.

Our Mission at LWEF is to ensure every student is college and career ready. LWEF serves as a pivotal steward in spurring and sustaining educational enrichment opportunities that help support students on their academic, social, and emotional journey inside and outside of the classroom.

Our Lew Williams “STRIVE” Scholarship Program aims to help students and their families tackle the great financial strain in covering the increasing costs of higher education. The Strive Scholarship Program provides high school graduates with vital support towards accessing and earning the postsecondary credential they need for successfully transitioning to the workforce.

Lew’s illustrious work history in Pinellas County is as follows: teacher of Social Studies at Dunedin Middle School, 1970-73; Principal at Fairmount Park Elementary School, 1973-75; Principal at South Ward Elementary School, 1975-77; Principal at Dunedin Elementary School, I977 – Feb. 1979; Principal at Seminole Middle School, 1979-81; Principal at Pinellas Park High School, 1981-87; Director of School Operations for Areas III & IV, 1987-91; Associate Superintendent for Pupil Assignment, 1991-95; Area II Superintendent, 1995-2004; and Pinellas County School Board Member – 2011.
